  • I have never done stand up before and I'm a total beginner. Which class is right for me?

    The “all levels” class is ideal for total beginners and/or students who have been doing stand-up for less than 2 years.

  • How can I perform on a showcase with Pretty Funny Women?

    Great question! To be considered for one of Lisa’s showcases, sign up for a class or book a private session today! Lisa always considers and utilizes her current students and alumni when booking showcases.

  • Does Lisa offer classes for men?

    Yes! Co-ed workshops are back! Lisa teaches at the La Jolla Comedy Store. Check out her CO-ED page to see the current class schedule. Can't make the class? Send Lisa an email to inquire about private lessons & coaching here.

  • How long are the workshops and how often do they meet?

    Workshops typically run 3 hours and meet once a week for 6 weeks.

  • How is the workshop structured?

    Lisa gives several different writing assignments and she collaborates with the students to come up with an original stand up routine that reflects each person's unique POV. Lisa suggests weekly homework and outside exercises which will help each person discover and develop their stand up material as well as help them gain confidence in their ability to perform in front of a live audience. Lisa’s tried and true curriculum has helped launched the stand up careers of hundreds of professional comedians who started with her as total beginners. Former PFW students include Chloe Fineman, Erica Rhodes, Jessica Michelle Singleton, Zainab Johnson, Atsuko Okatsuka, Justine Marino, Bresha Webb, Audrey Stewart, Luz Pasos and many more!

  • Who performs in the graduation showcase?

    Everyone who enrolls in an in-person or zoom class will have the opportunity to be considered for a final graduation showcase, however spots are not guaranteed and are based on attendance & show promotion. Lisa will explain more details about the final showcase at your first class.

  • What happens if I’m not available for the graduation showcase?

    The in-person graduation showcase is offered to students who participated in an in-person workshop that met the requirements to perform at the showcase. If you cannot make the showcase, Lisa will work around your schedule and find a future graduation showcase to put you on.

  • Can I do a payment plan for the workshop?

    Unfortunately, we no longer offer payment plans.

  • I can no longer participate in the class and/or I need to change when I can take the class. Can I switch or cancel?

    Before registering for any workshop, please make sure you are able to attend the scheduled weeks of class on the selected dates. The workshop is non-refundable/non-transferable after purchase.

  • If I sign up for a class and have a scheduling conflict, can I transfer my deposit to a future class?


    No. All payments are non refundable and non transferable.

  • How do I sign up for a class?

    You can book a class using our scheduling link under “Register for Workshop”. This will show you all the available classes & what classes are coming in the next few months.

  • What happens if I have to miss a class?

    If you have to miss a class, it is up to the student to get homework from classmates if they miss. You can also opt to request a private make up session with Lisa for $75 each half hour.

  • Who teaches the workshops?

    Workshops are taught by Lisa and various experienced comics/teachers.

  • Where in Los Angeles are the workshops held?

    Our in-person classes are currently being held at the Comedy Chateau in North Hollywood, CA. You can sign-up for our in-person classes on our classes page. We do offer ZOOM classes. Sign-up on our classes page!

  • Do you have any Zoom/online classes?

    At this time we are not offering scholarships.
